Practical Notes for This Class
Surge is the spec that fails silently. A fridge that ran fine all summer can trip a marginal inverter on a hot day when the compressor starts harder. Can a 2kWh power station run a whole house?
No — and vendors who imply it are counting on you not doing the math. A 2kWh unit runs selected essential circuits (refrigeration, lights, communications, a CPAP) for one to two days. Whole-home loads with HVAC run 1–3kW continuously, which drains 2kWh in roughly an hour. How long will these last if I use one every day?
